Introduction
Fiji is a nation of more than 300 islands in the South Pacific, famous for its clear water, coral reefs, and friendly people. Its economy depends heavily on tourism, along with agriculture and fishing.
Tourism Paradise
Tourism is Fiji's largest industry, bringing in hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, mostly from Australia and New Zealand. Resorts, diving trips, and island tours support many jobs. Tourism makes up a large share of the country's economic output.
Sugar and Exports
Sugar has long been an important export, though the industry has declined in recent decades. Fiji also exports bottled water, fish, gold, and garments. Fiji Water, sold around the world, is one of its best-known exports.
Challenges
As a small island nation, Fiji faces high costs for imported goods and is vulnerable to cyclones and rising sea levels caused by climate change. The pandemic devastated its tourism industry in 2020. Remittances from Fijians working abroad also support many families.
Conclusion
Fiji shows how small island nations depend on tourism and nature. Protecting its environment is essential to protecting its economy!
